Pink Storage reveals secret spaces to help declutter for Christmas

With four out of five Millennials and Gen Z reporting the need for more space, and more than half saying seasonal items like Christmas decorations are a major contributor to clutter and stress, many UK homes are destined to feel the squeeze ahead of the festive season.
As a result, Pink Storage, a leading UK self-storage provider, is helping homeowners reclaim space by encouraging them to think creatively about overlooked corners of the home and to recognise why decluttering now really matters – before the season really takes off.
“Decluttering isn’t just about tidiness,” said Scott Evans, CEO of Pink Storage. “It’s about making room for extra guests, creating space for children’s presents, keeping extra glasses, plates, and festive tableware organised, and even freeing up space by donating items to charity shops. Small changes can make a big difference to how you enjoy the season.”
Pink Storage’s top five holiday hideaways:
  1. Inside the oven (clean and cold!): Temporarily tuck large platters or trays inside your oven when not in use to free work surfaces and cupboards for holiday essentials
  2. Under the sofa and beds: Flat storage boxes can hold cushions, bedding, extra tablecloths, or surprise gifts, perfect for freeing living space
  3. Above kitchen cabinets: Store serving trays, glasses, or seasonal cookware out of sight but within reach
  4. Behind doors: Over‑door organisers are ideal for thinner items like sticky tape and wrapping paper
  5. Stair baskets: Use the wasted staircase space with specially designed items for knick-knacks and festive goodies
  6. Inside Suitcases: An empty suitcase is wasted space. Store bulky non-essentials, like cushions or rugs, that may make your home feel less spacious.
  7. Car boot: Getting wellies, outdoor coats, umbrellas, and bags out of the hallway and into your car boot can keep your entrance clear while still keeping them accessible for the Boxing Day walk.
…and don’t forget your shed for those top-secret gifts!
“By creatively using your home and combining it with storage, you can make space for what really matters: family, friends, celebrations, and giving,” added Scott Evans.
“And don’t worry if your home still feels crowded, as you’re not alone. Eighty-five per cent of households put up a Christmas tree each year, which puts even greater space pressure on homeowners, though most take their Christmas trees down by January 6th, so with a few clever storage solutions and our flexible self-storage units, you can enjoy a festive, clutter-free home now and easily transition back to normal afterwards.”
