Georgia Anne Photography has been named Photography & Videography Studio of the Year at the Business Awards UK, marking a major milestone for a Wolverhampton business that began during one of the most difficult periods of its founder’s life.

Wolverhampton-based wedding photographer Georgia Anne has won Photography & Videography Studio of the Year at the Business Awards UK, recognising the growth of Georgia Anne Photography from a business started from nothing into a wedding photography studio now capturing celebrations across the UK.

For Georgia, however, the story behind the business goes far beyond photography.

The business began after Georgia made the difficult decision to leave her job while on maternity leave following the birth of her son, who had been diagnosed with craniosynostosis.

While the family waited for further news surrounding his condition and the possibility of surgery, Georgia and her husband decided that she would leave employment so she could remain with their son full-time.

It was during this period that photography began to offer another possibility: a career which could provide an income while still giving Georgia the flexibility she needed to be present for her family.

What began with no established studio, client base or wedding industry connections has since grown into Georgia Anne Photography, with Georgia travelling across the UK to photograph weddings while building the business from her home city of Wolverhampton.

Along the way, she has also raised her second child and is now a mother to two toddlers, balancing life as a parent with running and growing the business.

Georgia said: “Winning Photography & Videography Studio of the Year feels incredibly surreal because I know where this business started.

“I didn’t begin with a huge investment, industry connections or some big plan to build an award-winning photography business. I was a mum who needed to find a way of working that meant I could still be there for my son during a really uncertain time in our lives.

“Weddings gave me that opportunity. They allowed me to build something of my own while being the mum I needed and wanted to be, and eventually allowed me to raise my daughter alongside growing the business too.

“There have been a lot of late nights editing after the children have gone to bed, weekends spent travelling around the country and an enormous amount of work behind the scenes, so receiving an award like this means a lot to me.

“I’m also incredibly grateful to every couple who has trusted me with their wedding day. The business quite literally wouldn’t exist without them.”

Georgia Anne Photography specialises in wedding photography with a documentary-led approach, combining candid storytelling with romantic and editorial-inspired portraits.

Since entering the wedding industry, Georgia has photographed couples at venues throughout the Midlands and further afield, with UK-wide wedding coverage now forming a growing part of the business.

Despite that growth, Georgia remains firmly rooted in Wolverhampton and hopes her story demonstrates that successful creative businesses do not necessarily begin with perfect circumstances.

She added: “I’m really proud that something which started because my family needed me at home has turned into a career that I genuinely love. “I get to document some of the biggest moments in people’s lives, travel to incredible places and still have a business that works around my family.

“To now be able to call Georgia Anne Photography an award-winning Wolverhampton business is something I’m very proud of.”

The Photography & Videography Studio of the Year award marks the latest stage in the continued growth of Georgia Anne Photography, with weddings already booked across the UK for the coming years.
