Boost your driving confidence with a free road safety course
For many older people, a driving licence is an important symbol of independence.
Black County local authorities, along with West Midlands Police and National Highways are committed to helping people retain their independent mobility whilst remaining safe on the road.
Dudley Council are offering courses for drivers aged 60 and over with the aim to raise awareness of gradual reduction in eyesight, decision making and reaction time to enable drivers to recognise them and take action to address any potential problems.
The course is informal and there will be opportunities to ask questions.
Each session is free parking and light refreshments are included. They are interactive theory and Q&A sessions, there is no practical driving element.
There are speakers from National Highways who will be looking at smart motorways and what to do in an emergency. The Police will be talking about blue light awareness as well as how to renew a driving licence. And the council’s road safety team will be talking about eyesight requirements including deteriorating eyesight and the importance of getting regular eye checks.
The session starts at 9.30am with refreshments included.
Booking is essential and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
To book a place, call (01384) 815433 or email road.safety@dudley.gov.
