Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, Willenhall – Supporting Menopause in the Workplace
by Kerry Tonks
Menopause training for leaders is gaining traction across Willenhall in the Black Country.
As a people-focused organisation, Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd (WGG) is committed to supporting the wellbeing of its employees at every stage of life. The founder of Beet Consultancy, Kerry Tonks, first connected with WGG at a Menopause Café in October 2025, following the Managing Director’s research into local external menopause support available for employees.
A survey by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) found that around 59% of women experiencing menopause reported a negative impact on their work. WGG recognises that Menopause is an essential component of workplace inclusivity, engagement and productivity. Sophie Habgood, Group HR Officer, highlighted, “We don’t just have a legal obligation but a moral obligation to ensure our employees feel safe and supported.” As a result, both the HR and leadership teams have embraced training to better understand the symptoms experienced by menopausal employees and how to navigate related conversations, fostering a culture of empathy and awareness.
By equipping leaders at WGG with the knowledge and confidence to navigate menopause-related conversations, the organisation aims to increase morale and productivity while strengthening psychological safety. While the training marks an important first step, it has also created opportunities to develop a menopause action plan and provide practical resources to support employees. This approach empowers leaders to create a supportive workplace where all employees can thrive, regardless of life stage.
