Self-weigh baby service available across city
Parents and carers across Wolverhampton are being reminded that the city’s self-weigh baby service is available at a range of Best Start in Life Family Hubs and libraries, following a fantastic response to its launch last year.
The service offers a simple and convenient way for parents to monitor their baby’s growth and wellbeing, using self-weigh baby scales in welcoming community settings. There’s no need to book an appointment, and trained staff and health professionals are on hand to provide advice and support if families have any questions or concerns.
Regularly checking a baby’s weight can help give parents peace of mind and confidence that their child is growing and developing well. Feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive, with parents saying they enjoy being able to track their baby’s progress and value having support available locally.

The self-weigh baby service is available weekly at several locations across the city, making it easy for families to access support close to home, including Central Library on Tuesdays from 10am-noon and Bilston Library on Wednesdays from 10am-noon, and the Best Start in Life Graiseley Family Hub on Mondays from 9am-11.30am, the Best Start in Life Children’s Village Family Hub on Thursdays from 1-3pm and the Best Start in Life Low Hill Family Hub on Fridays from 9.30am-11am.
Councillor Obaida Ahmed, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “These self-weigh baby scales have proved to be a valuable addition to our Best Start in Life Family Hubs and libraries, strengthening our ongoing commitment to supporting families across Wolverhampton.
“By providing self-weigh baby scales, we have made it easier for parents and carers to monitor their baby’s development in convenient and welcoming spaces, and whether you have queries about growth, feeding, or general wellbeing, our specially trained staff are on hand to support you every step of the way.
“It’s a great example of how working together with our partners can make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of our community, and help every child get the best start in life.”
