Wolverhampton Student Wins National T Level Award

Local student Ryan Skitt announced as National Winner of The Gatsby T Level Student of the Year Award 2025

Ryan Skitt, a T Level student at Thomas Telford UTC completing his industry placement with Baily Garner, has been awarded the National Winner of The Gatsby T Level Student of the Year Award 2025 at the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards.

Ryan Skitt had previously been awarded Regional Winner of The Gatsby T Level Student of the Year Award in the West Midlands National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2025. The ceremony to announce the regional winners was held on 7 October 2025.

Ryan was selected as the national champion from over 25,000 T Level students across England. He received his award at a ceremony in London on 26 November 2025, hosted by Ben Shephard.

Ryan said: “I’m incredibly proud to be recognised as the National T Level Student of the Year. My T Level has genuinely changed my life it’s given me confidence, real industry experience, and a clear path into the built environment. I hope this achievement inspires other young people to see what’s possible through T Levels and apprenticeships.”

The annual National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards celebrate the most dedicated and high-achieving apprentices, T Level students, and employers across England. Over 1,000 entries were submitted from sectors including construction, digital, health, science and public services.

The judges praised Ryan for his enthusiasm, his commitment to taking every opportunity, and for being a true advocate for T Levels.
