Wolverhampton Went Pink—and Raised Over £11,000 for The Way Youth Zone!
September saw Wolverhampton turn a fabulous shade of pink as The Way Youth Zone launched its first-ever Paint The City Pink campaign—and the results were nothing short of amazing! Thanks to the energy, creativity, and generosity of their young people, families, staff, and local organisations, they raised a brilliant £11,334 to support young people across the city. From running shoes to raffle tickets, pink outfits to epic endurance walks, the whole community came together to make a difference. The month was packed with fun, fundraising, and feel-good moments.
Why pink?
Pink is the colour of the uniform worn by The Way youth workers—you’ll spot them inside the building and out in the city doing outreach work, especially as the evenings get darker and colder. They’re the friendly faces helping bring more young people into The Way, offering warmth, support, and opportunity wherever they go.

Here’s just some of the fundraising activities that were organised across September:
Wolverhampton Half Marathon & 10K Run – A team of Youth Zone staff and dedicated parents hit the streets to raise funds and awareness.
Safran Golf Day – Over 20 teams teed off in a friendly tournament, all in support of The Way.
Gough Group’s Family Day – Celebrating the company’s 125 years with a party and generous donations throughout the day.
Thomas Telford School Pupils – Students from their NEST project stepped up with their own fundraising efforts.
BNI Achievers’ Pop of Pink Day – Members donated £1 to wear pink to work and show their support.
Nationwide Building Society – Staff wore pink every Wednesday and ran a raffle for customers.
Taylor Woodrow’s Thames Path Ultra Challenge – A team walked an incredible 100km from Putney Bridge to Henley-on-Thames!
Online Donations – Supporters from across Wolverhampton chipped in with generous one-off gifts.
“This campaign has been a joyful celebration of everything The Way stands for—community, opportunity, and hope,” said Lisa Carson, Director of Fundraising at The Way Youth Zone. “We’re blown away by the support. The money raised will help power a year of possibility—funding the materials and consumables we use every day in the 20+ activities on offer like art, sports, wellbeing workshops, cooking, music, and games. It means more creativity, more connection, and more chances for young people to thrive.”
