A Special Visit: Mayor of Walsall Explores West Midlands House
Staff at West Midlands House in Willenhall were delighted to welcome Mayor of Walsall, Cllr Louise Harrison, recently for a memorable visit celebrating community, heritage and the vibrant businesses that call the workspace home.
A Warm Welcome and Guided Tour
Centre Manager, Jeni Sellick, had the pleasure of personally welcoming the Mayor and conducting a comprehensive tour of our facility. Jeni said, “It was wonderful to share the story of our beautifully designed building and showcase the spaces where so many local businesses are thriving.”
During the tour, the Mayor had fascinating conversations about Willenhall’s distinguished lock manufacturing heritage – something incredibly close to the hearts at West Midlands House. Jeni added, “Our roots are firmly planted in this community, and we’re proud to be part of continuing that legacy of industry and innovation in the Black Country.”
The Mayor’s Impressions
Mayor Harrison shared her thoughts about the visit, saying she was amazed at how beautiful the interior design was and how it celebrated the building’s lock factory history. As this was her first visit to West Midlands House, it was particularly special to see her genuine surprise and appreciation for what has been created.

The visit included an elegant reception with canapés and drinks, providing the perfect opportunity for Jeni to introduce her dedicated team and outline how they work together to support their workspace community.
Resident businesses also had the chance to meet the Mayor, showcasing the diverse and dynamic entrepreneurial spirit that makes West Midlands House such a special place. These conversations highlighted exactly what they do – supporting local businesses and fostering connections within our community.
During the event, Jeni congratulated Mayor Harrison, recognising her as “a true woman of leadership who inspires others to embrace the values of the Black Country.”
